Aftercare

So you've had electrolysis!  Or you're very organised and you're planning ahead!

Your skin is likely to be sensitive after treatment, skin can be tender after treating and will need protecting.  So here is my advice for helping your skin to recover.  Of course, dysphoria will be a factor for some of my clients, but bear in mind that if the skin does become infected, it could delay further treatment.

These points should be followed for at least 48 hours following treatment.

-Avoid using soaps, perfumed products and make-up on the treated area.

-Apply Aloe gel morning and night (with clean hands or cotton pads), you can apply this more often if you feel you need to. (I'll give you some aloe gel at the end of your appointment!)

-Try not to touch the treated area after a treatment, remember each follicle treated will be a little more prone to infection than usual.

-Avoid sunbathing or tanning beds.

-Do try not to shave the area.

-Avoid swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms etc.

-Avoid any other heat based treatments to the treated area.

In the longer term, if you want to manage hair growth between appointments, please stick to shaving and trimming (That’s after your first 48 hours are up!).

Remember that when you come back for your next treatment, there will need to be enough length to the hair that I can grip the end with a tweezer, so 1-2mm.

Please try not to use waxing, plucking or similar hair management methods, as this can cause warped hair follicles, making them more difficult to treat with electrolysis.
